Throughout Fredericton New Brunswick, there are many older homes and old commercial buildings that still have rock wall foundations. Over time the mortar will begin to crumble and start to leak water through causing it to fail sooner.

We can repair these walls by removing old crumbled mortar, and stones that may have fallen out, and then install new mortar around the foundation stones to stop the leak. By doing this it will prolong the life of the stone wall foundation and allow you to keep the original look of the basement.

Crack injection in a foundation wall will last between 5 years and 25 years. Every crack injection is different, a lot of it depends on the condition of the concrete, the weather outside, and the severity of the crack itself.

Most crack injections usually take between 1 – 2 hours to repair. Every repair is different, depending on what needs to be done to rectify the issue and what products need to be used. In most cases, we give the homeowner a rough timeline as to how long the repair will take to complete.

Depending on the repair, the amount of dust can be extensive or very low. Crack injections are very low on the dust spectrum. Installing new mortar in a rock wall, or on brick or stone, can potentially be very dusty.

A foundation crack can be caused by the foundation settling, as well as the freeze and thaw of springtime usually being the culprit. During the winter months, it is common for foundations, brick, stone, or rock walls to crack and separate due to warm days and cold nights.

During the day the snow or ice melts and finds its way into small crevasses and then freezes overnight. With this happening over and over again the force of the water freezing and expanding will cause these cracks and separations to occur.
